The Kelowna Fire Brigade Cenotaph was erected in front of the Water Street Fire House (Water Street at Lawrence Avenue) in honour of the six Kelowna firefighters who fell in World War I:
- John Lawrence. McMillan
- Leonard Alexander McMillan
- Walter Hammond. Raymer
- Robert Leonard Pettigrew
- Arthur Milton Wilson
- Neil Dalgleish
By clicking the names it will take you to the Canadian Virtual War Memorial where there will be further information on the fallen.
Each November 11th members of the KFD Honour Guard stand vigil and perform a small, quiet Act of Remembrance in honour of their supreme sacrifice.
Upon their departure from the Cenotaph in City Park, the main parade marches past and honours our fallen again with an “Eyes Right”. We appreciate this gesture and make every effort to provide a large contingent of present and retired members of the Department at this parade and a second one in Rutland; as well as placing wreaths at both.
